We’re going to be doing things a little bit differently today. I’m going to be sharing an interview with one of my favorite clients, Allison Mondel of Sacred Voice Studios, she’s based in Maryland, and she teaches coaches and performs. The work that Allison does is truly beautiful. And as we work together, through our AstroBrand™ training, I guided her in her journey, so that she was able to see herself not just as a vocal teacher, but as a vocal visionary changing the way one approaches finding their own voice. In this chat, we’re going to talk about her process of working with me, what she loved, her unexpected results and most importantly, the way she committed to herself to trailblaze in her fields.
In today’s episode we will cover:
- Interview with one of my favorite clients, Allison Mondel of Sacred Voice Studios.
- Allison’s journey from seeing herself as just a vocal teacher to a Vocal visionary changing the way one approaches finding their own voice.
- We talk about her process of working with me, what she loved, her unexpected results and most importantly the way she committed to herself.
Allison Mondel is a highly versatile performing artist and teacher. She has been lauded by The Washington Post for her “ethereal soprano” and “spare, otherworldly radiance… a performance from across the centuries, full of distant and irresistible beauties.” She received her M.M. in Early Music Vocal Performance from the Longy School of Music where she studied with Laurie Monahan (Tapestry, Ensemble P.A.N., Sequentia) and was introduced to a revolutionary approach of music-making. She discovered a new love and inspiration: medieval music.
She is co-founder and director of award-winning Eya: Ensemble for Medieval Music, crafting programs presented at the National Gallery of Art, The Music Center at Strathmore, Washington National Cathedral, and Dumbarton Oaks, as well as numerous colleges, universities, and concert series across the east coast. Eya has been featured on Voice of America radio and is the recipient of the 2013 Ovation Award for Best Specialty Group: Early Music, as well as a 2015 nominee for Most Creative Programming. The group is also a 2018 nominee for Best New Recording following their latest album release, The Three Marys.
Allison takes the utmost joy in teaching, especially in helping young singers discover their inner artist and coaching established singers in early music. She teaches voice in the National Cathedral’s prestigious chorister program, as well as Georgetown University and her own private studio.
